Summer school aim

This EURO PhD summer school aims to be a unique forum for PhD students and young researchers working in operational research in health to get acquainted with multiple topics – ranging from classical operational research topics as simulation and mathematical programming to value measurement and stakeholders engagement in health contexts – which are relevant to address health decision-makers needs and to generate sound operational research methods, knowledge and tools aligned with value-based health care.

Why a Summer school for “Operational Research for value-based healthcare”?

Health decision-makers in multiple contexts are increasingly seeking evidence and information that can guide them towards better health care management, policy-making and resource allocation.

You should apply if…

…you are a PhD student (or early career researcher):

  • interested to get an in-depth understanding of concepts, methods and tools to the development of OR for value-based health care
  • motivated for having an impact with their OR in health research
  • eventually interested in presenting and discussing their research ideas

How many ECTS can you get with the Summer school?

2.5 ECTS.

How much is the registration fee and what does it cover?

Registration fee: 200€.

Fees include: all accommodation, meals (breakfast, coffee break, lunch and dinner), transport to IST, and social activities.

Fees do not include: travel costs from the participant country until Lisbon – these should be covered by the participants, either themselves or through external funding.

Financial support: some specific funding will be available to waive the fee for some participants.
